Kesem at East Atlanta provides year-long peer support for children whose parents have or have had cancer, as well as a free, week-long summer camp. Kesem at East Atlanta was founded in 2008 and is a completely student run organization. Over the past two summers, over 60 campers attended Kesem at Home virtually! Our one-week sleep-away camp is an opportunity for children between the ages of 6 and 16 to meet other children facing similar life challenges and spend a week having fun and just being kids. In 2020, we hosted a free, virtual summer camp with approximately 50 campers in attendance. Despite the difficult circumstances necessitating a virtual camp, many campers said it was the highlight of their summer! No matter the circumstances, we make the commitment to our campers to support them yearlong and give them an opportunity to feel like a kid again, surrounded by people who understand their struggle.
