International & Multicultural
The Emory Law School chapter of the National Lawyers Guild connects law students and social justice movements to apply our legal education towards radical social change.
We recognize that law is an inherently oppressive institution; our mission is to use law as a tool of intervention, for human rights and dignity over property interests. Social justice involves the accumulation of beliefs and practices shifting at every level, and Emory NLG aims to take lawyering beyond the institution and build solidarity and coalition with grassroots movement work.
We are in shared, principled struggle against fascism, imperialism, capitalism, and white supremacy, following NLG’s resolutions in support of: prison abolition and reparations, intersectional reproductive freedom and justice, environmental justice through decolonization and demilitarization, ending military occupation of Palestine, justice for people of marginalized gender and sexual identities, free and robust access to housing and healthcare for all, and other evolving platforms in response to evolving times.
