Believing that all students possess the capacity to lead, SILT strives to cultivate leadership potential in every student through community engagement, leadership development, experiential-learning, peer-mentorship, and campus-wide initiatives. Moving beyond notions of positional leadership toward an empowered personal journey, involvement in campus programs enables students to develop leadership skills and work effectively as part of a group, preparing them to become agents of social change both during and beyond their Oxford College tenure. SIL Values The Office of Student Involvement & Leadership strives to create meaningful experiences for students that are grounded in the following values:
Self-Authorship - explore, define, and own who they are and what they value Integrity - espouse values through daily actions Civility - seek common ground as a starting point for respectful dialogue about differences Belonging - put diversity, equity, and inclusion into action Community – bring people together towards common purposes Learning - utilize every experience as an opportunity to expand, develop, and reflect upon knowledge and practice
SILT Vision Statement We will engage every student in leadership and character-development programs. Our collective efforts will foster a model community of inclusivity, in which we will recognize, nurture, and celebrate diversity in all its manifestations. We aim to foster self-awareness, promote critical reflection, establish a sense of place, and cultivate socially responsible leadership at Oxford and beyond.
