Jornada de Salud (previously known as Portal de Salud) is a non-profit organization that provides health screenings and health education to members of the Spanish-speaking community in Gwinnett County. We are partnered with the Misión católica de Nuestra Señora de las Américas in Lilburn, Georgia to assist the parish’s 29,000 Hispanic/Latinx members. The mission of Jornada de Salud is to help Hispanic/Latino families live healthier lives by promoting health education and improving access to primary care and preventive care services. Student volunteers from the MD and PA program perform initial health screenings upon patient arrival, including blood pressure, body mass index, blood glucose level, and blood lipid levels. Spanish speaking volunteers then review findings and counsel patients regarding healthy living, including diet, exercise, stress, etc.
