Student Body is a group that seeks to become a supportive and active presence on campus for Emory’s disabled minority. This organization hopes to spearhead student-led workshops, faculty training, weekly/bi-weekly check-ins, and regular programming relating to the deconstruction of ableist aggressions on Emory’s campus. In bringing awareness to the non-able bodied, we will also work to build a safe space for the physically disabled -- as well as for students with other conditions, invisible illnesses, or sensory needs. Emory must recognize the disabled community as an identity on campus for all students, not limited to, but including: undergraduate, nursing, business, graduate, and law students. By initiating these conversations and activities, we will bring recognition and voice to this community while simultaneously creating a safer, more diverse environment for all students and bodies to flourish.
