Academic
The Honor Society is to support criminal justice students across a multitude of disciplines and combined majors as they pursue their academic and professional interests while providing them with the resources to take advantage of professional development opportunities not always available in the traditional classroom setting. We would coordinate educational events for its members to further the goals of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice by honoring the leadership, achievements, and academic excellence of Northeastern’s dedicated criminal justice students. Planned events include hosting guest speakers to present about their professional experiences, hands-on training and experiential learning programs, excursions to locations relevant to the field (e.g. courthouses, prisons, police departments, etc.), preparing workshops to practice and improve skills valued in criminal justice (i.e LSAT Pep), and other opportunities that exemplify the core values here at Northeastern. More importantly, the Honor Society would give students access to a larger network of professionals in the criminal justice field from Northeastern and across the country for coaching, mentoring, and guidance as they start their professional careers. This organization would provide something that has not been offered in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice in years, giving students a leg-up in their post-college life while also creating the next generation of professionals who can provide the same direction to future Huskies.
