Northeastern University AMS (American Mathematical Society) Graduate Student Chapter aims to foster and promote the mathematical development of graduate students, including providing opportunities for academic and professional development, networking, and community engagement within and outside Northeastern University, through activities such as academic speaker series, symposia, and collaborations with other AMS chapters in the Boston area.The intended audience or membership for the Northeastern University AMS Graduate Student Chapter includes:(1) Graduate Students: Both Masters and PhD students in the math departments at Northeastern University.(2) External Mathematics Community: Including members of other AMS chapters in the Boston area and potentially beyond, who participate in collaborative events and symposia.The chapter aims to engage these groups in academic and professional development activities, fostering a vibrant mathematical community within and beyond Northeastern University. To be specific, we intend to pursue the following types of events or initiatives:(1) Academic Speaker Series: Inviting accomplished mathematics scholars to share their research and expertise with graduate students at Northeastern.(2) Symposia / TopicBased Colloquium: Organizing events where PhD students can present their research to peers and faculty members from Northeastern and other AMS chapters in the Boston area.(3) Professional Development Workshops: Providing training sessions aimed at enhancing professional skills such as presentation techniques, academic writing, and networking.(4) Collaborative Activities: Participating in AMS-sponsored conferences and events that facilitate networking and collaboration within the mathematics community.These initiatives are designed to promote academic excellence, professional growth, and community engagement among mathematics graduate students at Northeastern University.
