NUHope4Spandana is a chapter of the national Hope4Spandana organization. This organization will collaborate with Newton Public Schools Special Ed Programs by serving as peer mentors for the children in these programs. This allows these students to have a person to guide them through the college preparation and application process, and peer mentors can serve as guides and friends. Furthermore, NuHope4Spandana hopes to host fundraising events to raise money to help support the schools established by the National Hope4Spandana organization for intellectually disabled children in small towns in India where there isn't much mental health awareness. Lastly, this organization will work to spread awareness about mental health disabilities by inviting workers from Hope4Spandana to talk about their experience, mental health professionals to talk about their line of work, and special ed workers to talk about their experience so people can learn more about mental health, intellectual disabilities and what students with these disabilities have to go through, how people can help these students, and how important it is to be aware of mental health in general.
