Students for Justice in Palestine
International & Multicultural
Students United for Palestinian Rights envisions a world where humans are treated with respect and dignity; where people live without the oppression of foreign occupation and apartheid. We envision a world where intersectional support and the goal of sovereignty from colonial powers bind humans together. We envision that one day, Palestinians will be free from occupation, free from fear, free from poverty, and will be able to determine their own fate as an independent nation living peacefully with its neighbors. Fully cognizant of the realities on the ground, we will nonetheless continue our work and keep in mind what Angela Davis once said, “I’m no longer accepting the things I cannot change… I'm changing the things I cannot accept.”     We believe that in order to resist structural oppression, we must embody the principles and ideals we envision for a just society: that we must stand against anti-blackness, racism, homophobia, sexism, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, classism, and colonialism in any form, as well as recognizing how they are interconnected. Our movement is one that engages with colonialism abroad, however since that violence is fostered within the institutions we are most familiar with, it means organizing within our own community. Our university stands on the colonized land of the Anishinaabe people and so it is our task in attempting to disentangle our university from colonial projects to engage with those that uphold our privilege as students. Thankfully, students are a massive force of power and our club works to educate MSU students and community members how to utilize it.
