WaMPS is a Registered Student Organization that strives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion for undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Physics and Astronomy (PA) and the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) at Michigan State University.Our mission is to empower women and undersupported undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Physics and Astronomy & FRIB through facilitating community, building supportive relationships that develop a sense of belonging, and supplying resources for individualized needs within PA and FRIB.WaMPS runs peer mentoring programs for graduate and undergraduate students in the Department of Physics and Astronomy throughout the year. The purpose of these mentoring programs is to support graduate students in navigating their first few years in the program, and to support undergraduate students who are interested in applying to graduate school. Mentors have the opportunity to participate in trainings that will support their growth as mentors. WaMPS also hosts various community-building events based on the interests of members. Members have the opportunity to lead and participate in committees tasked with planning and carrying out these events. Events have included the following: Outreach, first-year grad student gatherings, luncheons, game nights, movie nights, and more!
