From the sweet tea of the Southern United States, to British afternoon tea, to the Japanese tea ceremony, and to Moroccan mint tea and beyond, 「Tea」is an essential part of life in many different cultures around the world. The aim of this organization is to mutually come to a deeper understanding of the world's various cultures through the lens of tea from around the globe. This includes a focus on tea education and appreciation within a culture and between cultures, such as the different varieties of tea in Chinese tea culture and how the Chinese tea ceremony varies from the tea ceremonies present in Japan and Korea. We hope to create a space for people passionate about tea to be able to comfortably try tea from different facets of the world and gain knowledge of various aspects of different cultures that may otherwise feel inaccessible. In addition, we hope to be a conduit through which all members can share and educate other members on their own culture through tea. In this way, creating an organization where mutual continued learning is possible and sustainable, allowing members to gain a more well rounded understanding of Boston University's diverse student body in the process.
