Global Medical Brigades
Community Service & Volunteering
Global Medical Brigades is a secular, international, student-operated volunteer organization whose mission is to provide sustained health care to underserved communities throughout the world. Global Medical Brigades is a part of the larger organization known as Global Brigades, which is the world's largest student-led global health and development initiative. Along with affiliate groups at other distinguished universities, our BU team recruits student volunteers and medical professionals, gathers medicine and other supplies, and then travels overseas to participate in these medical brigades. Global Brigades aims to help build sustainable, empowered communities in the mostly rural areas of Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and Ghana. We will hold two brigades per year, typically in January and May. We will recruit dedicated students, residents, pharmacists, dentists and doctors to volunteer on each trip. Along with the 3 days of medical clinic in the medical brigades, students will participate in a Public Health Day and a Water Day. The cost is between $890-$1190 for the week, plus airfare, which typically can range from $600 - $900.
