Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with a life-threatening blood disease such as leukemia. For thousands of these patients, a blood stem cell transplant is their best—or only—hope. However, 70% of patients in need of a transplant do not have a fully matched donor in their family. As a result, patients turn to NMDP (formally known as Be The Match), the non-profit organization that operates the world’s largest and most diverse registry of potential blood stem cell donors. The more registry members, the greater the likelihood that patients will find their lifesaving donor. All it takes to join the registry is a swab!NMDP is a student-run organization that partners with the national NMDP organization to offer hope to individuals with blood diseases or blood cancers. We seek to increase and diversify the NMDP registry and increase awareness about the importance of cellular therapy. NMDP Campus Chapters was established by the national nonprofit organization NMDP, operated by the National Marrow Donor Program. There are currently over 100 NMDP groups at universities and colleges across the nation with the goal of expanding NMDP’s lifesaving mission—delivering cures for blood diseases. Save lives with us!
