Student Governance & Funding Boards
The Student Elections Commission (SEC) is the body of the Judicial Branch of BU Student Government that oversees and runs the elections for the Executive Board, At-Large Parties, student resource body, and for some college governments. The SEC is composed of three Co-Chairs and seven Commissioners. Together, we're in charge various operations from drafting election rules to advertising to event planning. SEC's mission is to ensure impartiality, fairness, and fun in all aspects of the electoral process and provide a platform for future BU leaders. The SEC requires a diverse team of enthusiastic individuals, ready to apply their unique experiences and skills. Undergraduate students who feel comfortable with logistics, budgeting, marketing, and/or crisis management are encouraged to apply. It is important to note that experience in these areas can be helpful, but it is not necessary to succeed in this role. The SEC will meet at least once every two weeks in the Fall semester. These meetings can last from one to two hours depending on the workload for each meeting. In the Spring Semester, the SEC will meet at least once per week, since all election events, including campaigning and voting periods, take place in the Spring. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us through email (election@bu.edu). You can also check us out on our website (http://www.bu.edu/election/) or Instagram (@bostonu_sec).
