Cal Berkeley Democrats
Political & Advocacy
The Cal Berkeley Democrats was founded in 1960 and is the official arm of the Democratic Party at the University of California, Berkeley. We have a strong tradition of being involved in Democratic politics at the local, state, and federal levels—our members have worked on city council races, presidential campaigns, and everything in between. We have the largest active membership of chapters among the California College Democrats. We are also one of the most active chapters of the California Young Democrats. In addition to working to get Democratic officials elected, our annual events include the California Democratic Party Convention, various community service projects, partaking in debates on-campus, and our annual banquet. The Cal Berkeley Democrats are committed to making the goals of the Democratic Party realities; these include but are not limited to – affordable higher education, good jobs with good pay, responsible environmental use, and affordable health care for every American.
