Established in commemoration of Thurgood Marshall College's 50th anniversary, the Health Disparities Initiative (HDI) at UC San Diego empowers students, staff, faculty, alumni and community partners to enact tangible change in their communities through public health education and service. HDI seeks to address and attend to health disparities within the San Diego area and beyond through meaningful collaborations, acts of service, and the publication and distribution of our quarterly zine, ultimately working toward long-lasting change in our communities. Through HDI, members interested in the intersection between public health and social justice have the opportunity to make a real difference by working on projects of their own design and/or contributing to the projects of others in the community to address health disparities.
