MissionThe purpose of the FOM club is to help GSB students gain a deeper understanding of the rapidly changing mobility landscape that is being disrupted by self-driving and flying cars, new ownership models, and multi-modal transport models. These changes will have an unprecedented effect on hundreds of thousands of jobs in the US economy - and on society as a whole - and at the same time, create new business opportunities for entrepreneurs.We will explore the four big trends that are actively challenging the existing infrastructure:Connectivity: Cars will be able to communicate with each other, thereby avoiding accidents. What are some key technology trends to make this happen? What skills will be needed for entrepreneurs?Autonomy: Cars will be able to drive themselves, which has tremendous effects on various factors such as urban planning, legal codes in case of accidents, insurances, business models for car producers, and new entrants such as Waymo and Uber, etc.Sharing: Autonomous cars could be available at the click of a button, thus eliminating the need for personal car ownership. What are the effects on business models of car producers - a USD 2.3 trillion industry in the US alone?Electric: Experts agree that the future of the car industry is in electric vehicles. Who will win in the race towards electric mass-mobility? Will it be prominent challengers such as Tesla or the established car producers?
