MissionThe Stanford Pre-Law Society (SPLS) is a student organization dedicated to bringing together Stanford undergraduates who are interested in the law and in pursuing legal careers. We are a community of like-minded students who wish to help members of the student body reach informed decisions about their futures. Every year we host a diverse program of speaker events, information sessions, and workshops. In addition to programming, we work with Undergraduate Advising and Research (UAR) and other campus organizations to build community, understanding, and a common vision.Membership BenefitsMENTORSHIPAs one of the premier Pre-Law Societies at Stanford, SPLS offers undergraduates the opportunity to develop relationships with a mentor from Stanford's law school. SPLS offers its members a simple process to find a mentor, as members are only required to fill out a request form to be matched with a current law student. SPLS members are at liberty to communicate with their mentors at their own convenience. Law school mentors serve as a means to learn about law school applications, discover the ins-and-outs of law school, and provide insight on how students can best prepare for graduate school. Alongside 1 v 1 meetings, SPLS will also host a mentor-mentee zoom conference and panel where members can learn from the experience of additional law students.LSAT PREPGeared at preparing students for a successful application to law school, SPLS hosts recurring LSAT prep sessions organized by TestMasters, an industry leader in test and examination preparation. These sessions are hosted 2-3 times a quarter, free of charge. LSAT prep sessions held by SPLS not only allow students to learn crucial details about the LSAT, but allow students to practice taking the LSAT in real-time, with simulated test environments that closely resemble the real thing. As students ourselves, SPLS membership entails finding suitable times for these sessions to take place, optimizing times and dates where the most students can attend.The benefits of becoming a member of the Stanford Pre-Law Society include:-Invitations to exclusive, members-only events with lawyers and law professors.-Receiving messages our SPLS mailing list with the latest pre-law tips and news, plus event and program highlights, in addition to messages regarding career opportunities.-Discounts off of certain LSAT prep courses, practice exams.-Eligibility for our mentorship from current Stanford Law School students through the SPLS mentorship program.
