Mission
The Global Medical Brigades (GMB) nonprofit partners with communities in Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua, Greece, and Ghana to form and staff free clinics for populations without proper access to healthcare. During the spring or summer of each year, our club travels to one of these clinics and/or works with clinic staff during a virtual "telebrigade." Before these programs, our club at UCI works to raise funds for the clinics and programming and learns about international healthcare. Although the format for any given program depends on members' interests and finances, participants are guaranteed opportunities to shadow doctors, learn about international treatments and medications, and work directly with patients in a variety of specialties. Through funding the in-person or virtual programs, our club directly supports GMB international clinics and empowers communities to build sustainable healthcare systems.
