Mission
Open Jam is a community that aims to create music performance, collaboration, and appreciation opportunities for students at UCI. We not only foster a community within our club, but contribute to the schoolwide community through coordinating events and performances with other groups. We welcome members of any and all skill levels, and encourage the development of musical skills through events such as open mic nights and group lessons-- All that is required to join Open Jam is a desire to appreciate and play music! Membership Benefits
We promote music performance and appreciation on campus for students of ALL majors! Our goal is to create a supportive environment for students interested in music, whether they've played music for years or have never picked up an instrument before. We give back to the student and local community through our open mic nights and concerts. We provide students with a creative outlet and social space, bolstering student wellness through artistic engagement. We often partner with other campus organizations or local non-profits by providing performers for fundraising events. We hope to create a positive environment and meaningful experiences through musical collaboration, giving all students a chance to discover or continue their musical aspirations. From open mic nights to jam sessions, we encourage our club members to improve and share their skills in music performance and composition. We have a strong community of singer-songwriters and composers, who often collaborate to produce their own music and release it on Spotify, Bandcamp, and/or Soundcloud! Our tradition of musical creativity is based around collaboration- we provide a space for students to share their talents and find others to create music alongside. We host socials and performances, including a quarterly retreat and Gig Night performance. Open Jam is not only a great creative environment, but a great social group as well! Meet life-long friends through the music community at UCI.
