Mission At SCHO, we believe health insurance information should be understandable and readily accessible to all. By providing free-of-cost educational materials and informational sessions to underinsured populations, we aim to demystify the enrollment process, help individuals and families navigate the healthcare system, and expand coverage in Los Angeles and beyond.
This group is designed to expand access to healthcare primarily under the ACA, but also under Medicare, Medicaid, etc. We will go into the community and assist underserved populations by directly assisting them with signing up for a plan, and keeping in touch with them to ensure no gaps in coverage. We will partner with other community organizations, and student groups on campus to set up educational events and fairs in the community related to healthcare eligibility and enrollment-- and at these events, we will also attempt to insure as many people as possible. In the future, we will design our own procedure for signing up uninsured individuals and compare the efficacy of this process with the standard protocol. We are not doing political advocacy, or health/wellness fairs—we are simply helping people who normally would not access insurance, get coverage.
