Kappa Alpha Theta
Sororities
Kappa Alpha Theta, the first Greek letter fraternity among women, was founded in 1870 by Bettie Locke Hamilton, Alice Allen Brant, Bettie Tipton Lindsey, and Hannah Finch Shaw. Theta has over 170 chapters with houses throughout the United States and Canada. More than 250,000 women have been initiated into Kappa Alpha Theta, forming strong friendships in chapters from all over, holding the sisterhood strong. The Omega Chapter was founded at University of California, Berkeley in 1890. Our Chapter occupied the first women's chapter house built by Omega sister Julia Morgan, the first woman to study architecture at the Ecole de Beaux Arts in Paris.

Kappa Alpha Theta is proud to be national supporters of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). CASA is an organization that provides mentors for abused, abandoned and neglected children. These mentors establish close bonds with the children as they interact one-on-one and serve as a voice for the children during the judicial process.
The Omega chapter of Kappa AlphaTheta supports CASA in a number of ways including donations from our annual philanthropic fundraising events, Theta Dodgeball and Cafe Casa (our famous Theta Brunch held at our beautiful Theta home, open to the Berkeley community).
