Dance
xFILOsion is a filipino-based hip-hop dance team established in the spring semester of 2024. We seek to promote and share music sung by artists of Pilipinx heritage, and highlight the incredible dancers in the Pilipinx communities. our dance style reflects the gradual, intimidating ticking to the grand explosion, which we show through our balance from delicate eye candy to a hype-fest of energy.
We welcome people of all backgrounds to join, but the music we perform to will be strictly aligned with artists of Pilipinx blood, including (but not limited to): Bruno Mars, Denise Julia, Dominic Fike, H.E.R., etc. Throughout the semester, the team will learn and perform multiple sets. A set is 2-3 minute routine composed of three songs: the first being the slowest, the second acting as a transition, and the third being the most energetic to symbolize the explosion. We aim to perform at events within the Pilipinx communities, the Berkeley Dance Communities, and have two showcases of our own. Tryouts take place at the beginning of each semester, and the level of the team (intermediate or advanced) is not established until we get a feel for the tryout body.
