AMWA at Berkeley is a Premedical division branch of the National American Medical Women's Association. AMWA membership is comprised of physicians, residents, medical students, pre-medical students, health care professionals, and supporters. AMWA is the oldest multispecialty organization dedicated to advancing women in medicine and improving women’s health.
AMWA at Berkeley aims to advance women in medicine, advocate for equity, and ensure excellence in healthcare. We seek to continuously empower and inspire our members through providing a loving and supportive platform for voices to be heard and transform ideas into realities. As a chapter divided into five task force-focused sub-committees (Mental Health, Cancer & Women’s Health, Gender & Sexual Health, Childhood Nutrition Education, Diversity in Medicine), we love to discuss topics that include women in medicine, women’s health, and gender equity. And, as a professional and community service-oriented organization, AMWA Berkeley offers opportunities for mentorship, professional development, volunteering, and support for individuals interested in healthcare careers.
We welcome new members at the beginning of every semester but you are welcome to join anytime throughout the school year! We post information about infosessions, events, meetings, and pictures that our members capture on our Instagram, so follow us to stay updated!
