Mission: Buddy Jackets strives to foster a tradition of service for underprivileged children in the surrounding Atlanta community by promoting higher education through year-round mentorship. Buddy Jackets is an organization at Georgia Tech that works with the John H. Harland Boys and Girls Club to strengthen community bonds and bring GT students and underprivileged children in the area together through year-round volunteering and events. Our fall event, "Tech the Halls," allows students to serve as "mentors" to the children and take them on a $100 shopping spree to Target along with participating in a variety of holiday-themed activities such as cookie decorating, karaoke, gift wrapping, etc. Our Spring Event, "Rec with Tech," will be a day of games, STEM activities, food, and more! Along with the major events, we have a variety of membership requirements that require mentors to volunteer several times throughout the year and attend general meetings, mentor socials, and proceeds nights. Our requirements for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year can be seen below: Participation in our organization is awarded by points. The number of points required for this semester are still being discussed. In order to allow our mentors to continue to have a strong positive impact on their community, we will be working on a pen-pal mentorship program for the Boys and Girls Club children. We will also still provide gifts for the children, whether we are able to deliver them in person or not. Other point opportunities will include monthly general meetings and mentor bonding events. There will be dues, which is also a requirement for membership. The price is currently TBD due to the pandemic and budget cuts but typically they have been between $20-30 in the past. They cover various expenses, such as background checks, event day shirts, and food If you are interested in applying to be a Buddy Jackets mentor for the 2022-2023 school year, our application is now open and you can apply here! **This organization was formerly known as Tech the Halls
