Feminist Leaders Advocating and Mobilizing for Equity
Social Justice
History:The Women's Leadership Conference began during the winter of 1998 as means to celebrate, recognize, and learn more about the strong leadership exhibited by women of the Georgia Tech community. The conference is a gathering of women who have sought to become leaders in the classroom and the boardroom as well as the communities where they reside. As an infant coming into the world of annual campus activities, the conference was phenomenally successful. Now in its 20th year, the conference is again striving to expand its reach. The 2021 theme for the annual Georgia Tech Women’s Leadership Conference is centered around intersectionality to underscore our commitment to fostering intersectional feminism in the spaces we find ourselves in. Women empowerment is only as effective as the determination for inclusion is strong, and we have a commitment to uphold values that take into consideration the various identities that affect our ability to achieve gender equality. To us, intersectionality is about building community, cultivating a sense of belonging, and fighting for justice by being active participants in the liberation of all women, regardless of race, sexual orientation, class, religion, body type, and gender identity. The 2021 Georgia Tech Leadership Conference will be held on March 6, 2021 and it will be the first-ever virtual WLC. Tickets will be released in February and will be found on our website at https://wlc.gatech.edu/.
