The Queer Alliance and Resource Center, formerly the Queer Resource Center and Queer Alliance, was united for the first time in 2008 by a Senate Bill written by Gregory Stevens and Senator Corey Jackson and sponsored by Senator Corey Jackson. QARC is one of UC Berkeley’s oldest student organizations, established 1969 shortly after the Stonewall Riots.
The Queer Alliance and Resource Center is a student-run organization in charge of providing social, educational, and safe sex programming for the queer and trans community on campus, and also acts as an umbrella organization for all active queer/trans communities on campus. QARC hold bi-weekly meetings, acting as a caucus for all active queer/trans organizations on campus (as well as queer-allied organizations), taking place every other week at a time set by the Board. QARC empowers and enriches the experiences of QT+ students, faculty, and staff at UC Berkeley through advocacy, service, and engagement.
The Queer Alliance and Resource Center also maintains 2 QARC lounges in space A15 of the Hearst Field Annex; they are safe spaces and open to all students and QT student groups, with sexual wellness, wellness and academic resources. Our current list of resources available remotely can be found here: queer.berkeley.edu.
QARC would like to remind everyone to support the queer and trans (and queer-allied) groups on campus including:
