Kappa Alpha Theta
Academic
Founded in 1870 at Indiana Asbury (now DePauw University) in Greencastle, Indiana, Kappa Alpha Theta is the first Greek-letter Fraternity known among women. In 1904, Alpha Theta Chapter at the University of Texas became the second Theta chapter in the South. We stand for sisterhood, philanthropy, character and academic excellence.
Since 1989, Kappa Alpha Theta has supported the advocacy work of CASA for Children, our international philanthropy. We share CASA’s belief that all children have the fundamental right to be safe, and to be treated with dignity and respect. Court Appointed Special Advocates—CASA volunteers—work with children who have been removed from the home due to abuse or neglect. A CASA volunteer provides a voice for the child in the courtroom and the community.
