Longhorn HeARTists is an organization centered around medical humanities. Medical humanities is an interdisciplinary field of study that examines the social, cultural, ethical, and historical dimensions of how practitioners and patients alike experience health and illness. By utilizing the medical humanities, students will be provided opportunities to work directly with local communities to understand how humanity influences the way we practice medicine. Our ultimate goal is to inspire compassion, encourage patient advocacy, and empower others to become more resilient in their stories and health. The medical humanities serves to teach us about what it means to be human in the context of healthcare and society.
