LMI is an organization primarily dedicated to helping University of Texas students (both business and non-business students) learn how to properly invest their savings. The organization will hold weekly meetings that will consist of bringing in qualified guest speakers, conducting open market discussions, observing stock pitches, and hearing member presentations. We hope that members will learn to use financial models and data analysis to construct diversified portfolios. Additionally, we hope to teach members how to invest properly to maximize their financial security and value various businesses, as well as build a network of individuals who are also interested in investing. No prior investment experience is required to join the organization. What separates us from other investing organizations is that our focus is on educating our members about how to invest personally, rather than preparing them for corporate investment roles. Given that there is much overlap between personal and professional investing, we hope that our members will also be prepared for corporate investment roles.
