Miracle Messages Austin is a student organization that is on a mission to end relational poverty on the streets and, in the process, inspire people everywhere to embrace their homeless neighbors not as problems to be solved, but as people to be loved. We offer family reunification services and a phone buddy system to help rebuild formal or informal social support for our unhoused neighbors.
Ways you can get involved:
Miracle Friends: a phone buddy program for individuals experiencing homelessness. Volunteer from anywhere in the world, for roughly 30 minutes - 1 hour per week.
Outreach: talk to our unhoused neighbors about our reunion service in which we reunite our unhoused neighbors with their loved ones. You will work as a team to record short messages from our unhoused neighbors and send them to our Digital Detective team. Come out on either Wednesdays or Saturdays to our partner sites.
Case Solving: as a "digital detective", you will attempt to locate the loved one, deliver the message, and facilitate a reconnection.
