Prism Productions intends/seeks to enhance performance in a more blinded, inclusive way. We would select shows, new work or published, that reflect the community within Winship without trapping actors in a race/sexuality/gender/ethnicity box. Actors, directors, playwrights, designers, and more will be given the opportunity to build their resume by fulfilling roles in performance processes that would not have been offered before, outside of the organization. We will open the stage to different bodies, backgrounds, and ideas through a form of conscience casting that promotes equality and equity without typecasting. We will obtain scripts that do not prioritize themes of race/identity and so on that will create an equal playing field and allow actors to get cast solely based on talent rather than their skin. We can apply our degree skills and what we have learned within the department thus far into the production terms while balancing communication practices and ethics. While the department's main attraction lies in the hands of our graduate students, Prism Productions will give undergrads more of a grasp on their aspiring careers, working closely to their emphasis and expanding their resumes. As upperclassmen, we wish to create a safe and welcoming environment for incoming freshmen considering how small and tight knit our Winship community already is. Going to college is terrifying and when you're in a competitive space, it can be extremely difficult to feel positively about yourself and your environment. Prism Productions creates homelike and safe power teams that will celebrate joy and art as we deviate from trauma based shows. As artists looking to create, we will work closely with students of Bates and Moody as well. We hope to watch our team grow and get passed on as members graduate and enter their own lives, renovating the org to respond and interact appropriately as members of Prism Productions, society, and equal practices.
