In order to continue to create a safer UT Community, all registered and sponsored student organizations complete the Safety Education Program on an annual basis, during the fall semester. The Safety Education Program connects student organizations to risk management, prevention, and emergency resources. WHO IS REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE? All registered and sponsored student organizations at UT Austin are required by state law to participate in the Safety Education Program annually, during the fall semester. Each organization's President/Primary Contact as listed on Hornslink must attend the Officer Workshop, then provide the Organization Training to their entire membership. CHECK YOUR ORGANIZATION'S STATUS Not sure if your organization has completed the Safety Education Program? You can check your status online. HOW TO COMPLETE THE SAFETY EDUCATION PROGRAM Organization leadership must assure that their organization has completed the following two steps. While the deadline is in October, it is recommended that you complete this program as early as possible in the fall semester so you don't run out of time. STEP ONE: Safety Education Officer Workshop The President/Primary Contact as listed on HornsLink must attend a Safety Education Officer Workshop. President/Primary Contact's may attend the workshop on behalf of more than one organization in which they serve as President/Primary Contact for. Multiple workshops are provided to fit your schedule; however, you only need to attend one per calendar year. View and RSVP to the scheduled Officer Workshops. Be sure to RSVP and attend a Safety Education Officer Workshop as soon as possible. Workshops fill quickly and the President/Primary Contact will need to coordinate the Organization Training portion of the program, so please plan accordingly. If no workshops are currently posted, please check back. STEP TWO: Safety Education Organization Training After attending the Officer Workshop, the President or Primary Contact, must provide the Safety Education Organization Training to the entire membership of each organization they represent. You may present this as part of a scheduled meeting that falls before the annual deadline, or create an opportunity to present it to your organization. After you train your organization, let our team know by filling out the Organization Training Notification Form. FALL 2024 DATES & DEADLINES August 28 – October 24: Safety Education Officer Workshops are offered during this time Organizations that do not complete the Safety Education Program by October 24th, 2024 will be frozen.
