Student College of Clinical Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin
Academic
The American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) is a national pharmacy professional organization that provides leadership, education, advocacy, and resources to enable clinical pharmacists to achieve excellence in practice and research. ACCP Student Chapters provide students with a local connection to the national organization. Student chapters exist for the following reasons: 1. To familiarize students with the field of clinical pharmacy by providing information about careers and opportunities within the field of clinical pharmacy; 2. To promote dedication to excellence in patient care, research, and education; and encouraging the professional development necessary to function within an interdisciplinary team; 3. To advocate for the role of clinical pharmacists in providing direct patient care, including evaluation of the patient and his or her pharmacotherapeutic needs; initiation, modification, or discontinuation of patient-specific pharmacotherapy; and ongoing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and follow-up. 4. To encourage participation in the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) at the national level and in local/regional chapters.
