The New York University Cross Examination Debate Team for excellence at every level of competition with a focus on the Cross Examination Debate Association (CEDA) National Championships, the Novice National Championships, and the JV Nationals Championship. We attain those goals by striving for effective discourse and debate. In previous seasons, The team has also maintained an average GPA over 3.5 for five of the last six years. NYU Professor of Law Norman Dorsen explained, "Excellence goes far beyond intellectual quality and attainment and includes two additional factors that are absolutely necessary; diversity and heart. Heart is what it all rests on--reputation, quality, prestige, and success. It refers to judgment, morality, and higher goals and to the sense of community that comes with being united in a common pursuit." We fulfill Dorsen’s objectives through our competitive endeavors, our community outreach and our campus service.
