The Master Scholars Program in Humanistic Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine promotes inquiry and scholarship at the intersection of medicine and the arts, humanities, and social sciences. We enable students to pursue creative and intellectual interests beyond the scope of the traditional medical school curriculum.
Our program fosters well-rounded students, who have the ability to develop insight into the human condition and become engaged and reflective physicians. It consists of noncredit interdisciplinary seminars, called “mini-courses”; a research fellowship in medical ethics and humanities; Agora, a student arts and literature magazine; and events on humanistic medicine topics.
Students take part in the program while fulfilling their other medical school commitments. Several activities are open to all members of the NYU community, allowing for interprofessional collaboration.
