Interdisciplinary Encounters is a series of round-table discussions organized and facilitated by XE students to foster dialogue with NYU faculty about engaging in research that does not neatly fit within conventional disciplinary boundaries. Such discussions are meant to provide insight into interdisciplinarity as both a method and field of study that engages a plurality of critical and creative practices. These student-moderated conversations will address the potentials and challenges that come from crossing disciplinary boundaries, the status of hyper-specialization in academia today, as well as the possible futures of interdisciplinary thought and action.
