La Herencia Latina, the Latino Heritage Month Planning Committee at New York University, was established in 1990 by a group of students from different clubs and organizations, who saw the need to create a one-month celebration dedicated to the Latino Culture and experiences. The committee's task is to coordinate and host several programs, events, panel discussions, lectures, concerts and cultural activities during the month of November, the official month in which New York University recognizes Latino heritage and its international impact. The pupose is to teach the NYU community all about Latino history and culture. We learn, but at the same time celebrate in union our past, present and look forward to the future.
