First, MSWSN will function as the New York University chapter of the nationally-recognized professional organization of the same title. This organization was started by Hunter’s MSW program and connects macro social work students from around the country for professional development, career growth, and networking. Through the diligent efforts of our academic advisor, Dr. Linda Lausell-Bryant, NYU has generously covered membership fees for this organization.
The group will also function as a student group that works closely with the Macro FLO and the Office of Global and Lifelong Learning, among other offices, to continue to expand the macro student voice through student/faculty engagement, as well as through less curriculum-based endeavors such as the creation of additional macro opportunities such as joining Columbia, Fordham, and Hunter by bringing NYU Silver to the United Nations Social Work Day.
Additionally, we will be working to tackle the circular nature of progressive actions that exists as a result of the relatively brief nature of our program, attempting to instill a process of continuity to counter the natural regression after our cohort's departure into the professional world.
