The NYU: Reaching Out Program serves to promote positive personal development and create emerging young leaders that are ready to tackle the problems of their worlds with an open mind and an open heart.
At NYU: Reaching Out, we collaborate with inner-city high school students and provide a safe space to explore challenges and also a peek into the college experience. Our organization’s goals are to help our participants develop leadership skills to become advocates of their dreams as empowered, college-bound young women.
Our bimonthly workshops feature activities surrounding college readiness and identity empowerment. We cultivate a safe, productive and trusting environment that embodies the support and care needed to explore any challenges hindering the realization of our potential. We take care of each other. Mentors and mentees alike help lift each other up towards our goals as self-advocating students.
Everyone can benefit from care and support to reach their potential. NYU: Reaching Out encourages the realization of that potential, through camaraderie, resources, assistance, and care.
