The Playback Theatre Troupe (PTT) at NYU is an organization for current graduate students and alumni of NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. The troupe practices and performs playback theatre, an interactive form of improvisational theatre in which audience members tell stories from their lives and watch them be artistically enacted or “played back” on the spot. We are committed to co-creating inclusive spaces where diverse voices and stories are shared, honored, and reflected back with creativity and care. We strive to cultivate experiences that spark meaningful dialogue, foster deep connections, promote empathy and understanding, and inspire positive change on our campus and beyond. Through creative collaboration, PTT also seeks to foster a sense of community among students and alumni.
