The mission of the South Asian Women’s Association (S.A.W.A.) at NYU is to provide female-identifying students of South Asian heritage a safe space for mental welfare and the opportunity to engage in service and participate in cultural, social, and career-building events while building solidarity amongst the NYU community. Our club will be a safe space for female-identifying students, with a focus on South Asian heritage. We encourage diversity and are looking to cater to both South Asian women as part of the diaspora, as well as those directly from South Asian countries. We are open to South Asian women of all nationalities with a focus on South Asian heritage. These heritages include but are not limited to Indian, Pakistani, Bengali, Sri Lankan, Nepalese, Bhuttanian, Burmese, Kashmiri, and Afghan.
