The SDEA provides students enrolled in the NYU Steinhardt Dance Education graduate program the chance tomeet mentors in the field of dance education, develop leadership skills, coordinate guest teaching artists, professional development, and other enrichment opportunities for its members, make connections with community organizations to offer free dance workshops or classes, prepare and submit proposals to present at the annual NDEO National Conference, and volunteer and advocate for dance education within the local, state, and national level.The organization also affords students the unique opportunity to enter into a continuous dialogue about the current state of dance arts education and other pressing issues pertinent to the field of dance. The SDEA will strengthen the growing web among graduate students interested in dance education, providing a forum for intellectual and creative exchange.
